Sudoku was born in Japan in the 1980s, but its roots trace back to "Latin squares" studied by mathematician Euler in the 18th century. The name literally means "the digits must be unique" — and it is precisely this principle that makes the game so elegant: a single grid, 81 cells, and simple rules hiding a deep challenge.
In this digital version, the board comes to life with algorithm-generated puzzles, ensuring each game is unique and has an exact solution. Three difficulty levels — from beginner to expert — let anyone find the right challenge for their mind.
The goal is to fill a 9×9 grid with numbers 1 to 9 so that each row, each column, and each of the nine 3×3 boxes contains all digits from 1 to 9, without repetition.
Tap a cell to select it, then tap the desired number on the bottom panel. Pre-filled (given) cells cannot be changed. Wrong numbers appear in red and cost a life. You start with 3 lives — lose them all and the game ends.
Use the 💡 Hint button to reveal the answer for a cell (costs 100 points). The ✕ Erase button clears the selected cell. The ✅ Verify button highlights all incorrect numbers on the board. The ✏️ Notes mode lets you mark possibilities in pencil without committing to the grid.
The greatest challenge is logical deduction: instead of guessing, Sudoku demands chained reasoning. One wrong number can compromise a cascade of positions and cost precious lives.
On Hard difficulty, only 24 of the 81 numbers are given, requiring advanced techniques like naked pairs, hidden singles, and candidate analysis. Keeping your time low for a good score while avoiding mistakes is the balance that separates average players from true Sudoku masters.
- 1Always start with the blocks or rows that already have the most numbers filled in — they constrain possibilities the most.
- 2Use Notes mode (✏️) to mark candidates in difficult cells before committing to a number.
- 3Check rows, columns, and blocks simultaneously for each digit 1–9 — crossing these three constraints reveals many solutions.
- 4Save Hints for moments of total blockage, not right from the start — each hint costs 100 points in your final score.
- 5Completing the puzzle without errors on Hard in under 10 minutes guarantees a maximum score.
